Web Maple Core is a Taipei-based consulting practice for teams whose databases need refactoring and whose queries need honest performance work.
Why we exist
Many applications in Taiwan’s retail, logistics, and fintech sectors still run on schemas designed for a smaller product. Features accumulate; indexes multiply; reporting copies of the same facts appear in three places. Web Maple Core was formed to help teams face that debt with sequenced, reviewable consulting — not a slide deck of buzzwords.
How we work
We treat database refactoring and query performance as craft work: read the plans, name the risks, write the migration steps someone else can follow. Clients stay in control of production. We bring outside concentration and a habit of documenting trade-offs.
People and place
Our practice is based at Office 9, 45 Placeholder Street, Taipei. Meetings can be in person or on video for distributed teams. Consultants who join engagements have hands-on histories as application developers and database specialists — people who have broken a migration and cleaned it up, not only reviewed one.
Values we hold in client work
- Specificity over slogans. Prefer “this join scans 40 million rows because the predicate is wrapped in a function” to vague claims of improvement.
- Respect for change windows. Nightly cutovers and holiday freezes are real constraints; plans must fit them.
- Leave the team stronger. Artifacts and pairing matter more than a mysterious “black box” fix.
Relationship to clients
We are a consulting counterparty, not your DBA-as-a-service. When a problem needs continuous ownership, we say so. When a short engagement can clear a bottleneck, we keep the scope tight.
